Chasing Pavements - Adele

So the first thing we decided to do for the very first lesson of practical work for the year was to try and recreate shots from lots of different music videos. Over the year we hope to do at least 5 different ones, with the first being the shot at 2:25-2:29 of Adele's Chasing Pavements video which fits into the pop ballad genre.

STEP 1: The first thing we decided we needed was to get a screenshot of the actual piece of the song we wanted to reproduce so we went onto YouTube, found the music video and got the picture.

STEP 2: We then thought the best thing to do was to fully analyse the shot so we could make sure we were able to include all the important information so we could get the recreation as true to life as possible. Below is the annotated copy

STEP 3: this was the hardest out of all the steps as it was where we needed to find suitable actors, location and lighting. For the location we had to find a suitable tree within the school grounds so that we were able to film in school times and we decided on one almost straight away due to the 'barkiness' and general appearance we had to create. We then looked at camera angles of the shot and found that although it was primarily a close up shot, Adele appeared to be looking up at the camera determining that it had to also be a high angle shot. In order to achieve this effect we decided that we would have our smallest member of the group (sorry Georgia!) as Adele and the tallest who was Selina to film it. In the picture the lighting is very much on Adele as she is meant to be our main focal point, with the background being darker so to get this we will have to use the effects on final cut pro to darken the background along with an LED light directed onto Georgia's face to create her sense of importance.

STEP 4: Then came the chance to do a practice shot where we could determine exactly how we were going to get the lip syncing correct and it gave us the chance to rectify anything in time for the final shoot. From this we decided to play the track in the background in order to give Georgia the opportunity to mouth the words and then in the editing process get rid of all the background noise and overlay a higher quality version of the music. From this shoot we also found that we needed to make a few small changes like putting more eye make-up and lighting on our 'Adele'.

After all this we went and did our final shoot and the results are as below! **ADD PICTURE**
