Beginning Work on Our Ancillary Tasks

Once we had completed our music video we had no time to stop as we had to move straight on to our ancillary tasks which are creating the album artwork and poster for our band. In order to do this effectively we would need to have a good understanding of our band and about how you put together an album and poster. As we had done a lot of research of our band already from our music video we already knew a fair amount about them but we wanted to get an even more in depth idea about what there marketing was already like. In order to do this we decided to create a mood board of all the bands previous promotional photos so that we could see them all in front of us and could create a sense of what sort of ideas they were going for.

After this we then had to research what exactly you need to include on some album artwork and got this information.

On the cover:
  • Artist name
  • Album title
  • Artwork/Pictures
  • Parental Advisory Explicit Content notice (if applicable)
Spine:
  • Artist name
  • Album title
  • Record label (if applicable)
Back Cover:
  • Track numbers, song titles and song lengths
  • Credits
  • Publishing information
  • Copyright notices
  • 'All rights reserved...'
  • Artwork/Pictures
  • Website
  • Barcode
Knowing all this really helped as it meant we were able to include all the right things so that it fitted with the conventions of an album and so in turn made it as appropriate and professional looking as possible.
