Location Research

During Creativity hour this week we tried to decide on a location that we wanted our band to perform in. As we knew we were going to have two narrative types going on in the video (a narrative and a performance element) we had to find two different locations to film.

For the performance element we asked the band where they usually rehearsed and where most of their gigs took place. They told us that they rehearsed in the garage at Connor's house and most of the performances were at the old fire station at Windsor, so this was where we started in our process of finding a good location. The Fire Station was were we first went when we watched them so obviously we thought this would be the best place for it to look as though they were performing at a gig however when we looked further into the logistics of hiring out the place we came to the conclusion that it wasn't the place we wanted. Besides from the fact that it is difficult for everyone to get to as its in Windsor and everyone (including the band) live in Maidenhead it was also an extremely costly place to rent for the night, coming to over £100 which none of us had!

We then had to sit down and think of another place and one of our teachers gave us the idea of instead of trying to make it look as though we were at a gig, make it like a rehearsal and have it set in a recording studio. With this in mind we found a place called Denmark Studios in Maidenhead which looked really nice online and was affordable for everyone. We decided to contact them as soon as we found the place as our shoot was coming up soon and arranged a day to go in and see the place just to make sure we liked it.
