'A metanarrative is a grand narrative common to all' which in this case refers to how a band (youth club for rich kids) has developed or changed throughout their time together.
The top picture is one of their first promotional photos they had taken when they first started as a band in 2011 so they were still very amaeteur and new to the music scene. As you can see in the picture there are the 5 band members all in it but it seems as though there are 3 more important members as they are in front and facing towards the camera. This shows that they certainly used to have a hierarchy within the band and although the three of the front members are at the front there is only one of them (the girl) who is looking up and is not playing with anything, clearly showing that she is in charge of everything to do with the band. The picture is also in black and white to bring across the idea that they are an indie band as more pop bands tend to have bright colours in comparison to the rock/indie genre of music. The setting of the photo is in what looks like someones back garden and they look almost child-like with one of them playing football and another playing a keyboard the wrong way round. I think all these things were done intentionally to show that they are a new band that is still learning and developing which was good for them at the time but something that they, and we, will have to change in the future as this is not the current level they are at.

The second picture is also a promotional image but something that was take ealier this year in April so is very different from there previous one. As you can probably see from the picture the girl in the band decided she no longer wanted to be in the band so choose to go solo, meaning they had to take some action in redesigning their whole image. In the newer picture you can see how they all they are all stood at similar levels and closeness to the camera to show a new sense of equality within the group. They did however stay with some of the same ideas that the first image depicts in that they kept it very nature based by shooting in a field instead of someones back garden and they stuck with the black and white edit on the pictures and their costume choices in the new picture make them look 'more indie' as this is the type of clothing we imagine this type of band to wear, not a hollister t-shirt! All in all I think the new picture is a lot more proffessional looking and their growth in the last 2 years is clearly shown in these two pictures.
