Completing The Music Video

Just before we split up from the Christmas holidays was when we finally completed our music video and now that we had the sequence down we could start making small changes to the colour and edit for our final cut. It had taken a long time trying to think of where we could add in the new narrative sections that we had just filmed but we managed to do it so it looked effective. Alongside trying to figure out where each new shot should go we also had to work out how long they should be played for which again proved to be quite a problem for us. Just as we had for the performance part, we had made a lot of the shots just slightly too long and so when it came to watching it back it slowed down the pace of the music video entirely. Although at some points we liked this effect we realised that it had stopped fitting in with the conventions of music video which is to make all the edits very choppy and quick and had begun to start to look slightly like the start of a film. In order to change this we cut some of our shots by almost half and used more jump cuts so that our music video would fit with as many of the conventions as possible. Overall though we had a good final cut and it just left us with the opportunity to start colour grading and letter boxing!!
